Mammillaria lasiacantha is another very variable species usually unbranched or slowly clustering, deep-seated in substrate and inconspicuous. The variety "denudata" distinguishes from the common Mammillaria lasiacantha for its always glabrous spines.
Unlike many other cacti, which use their ribs as storage devices, the Mammillaria feature raised tubercles, from which spines emerge. When you water, the tubercles will expand to allow for increased water storage.
Scientific Name: Mammillaria lasiacantha var. denudata Engelm.
